What field of Data Science are you interested in?
Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing

What drew you to study Data Science at Penn?
I selected Penn because of my curiosity to explore and work at the intersection of innovation, cutting-edge technology and creativity to make human lives better and the flexibility of The DATS program along with its interdisciplinary curriculum. We can concentrate on whatever aspect of data science that we desire.

What are some classes that you have particularly enjoyed and why?
CIS545: Big Data Analytics and CIS520: Machine Learning were two of my favourite classes because they covered all of the latest technology, the class structure is well-organized with homework, and the professor’s teaching and enthusiasm make the class much more interesting. Both courses helped me with interview preparation, and I got practical experience by working on final projects.

What internships have you had? If you know your post graduation plans, please include here.
I’m a Teaching Assistant for MCIT 594 Data Structures and Software Design, as well as a Research Assistant at the Wharton School’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Analytics Lab & Political Risk Lab, where I’m working with Dr. Witold Henisz on analyzing the impact of businesses on the political and social landscape. I’ll be interning as a Software Development Engineer in the AWS Team at Amazon this summer.

What advice do you have for new students?

Share a little bit about yourself.
I am curious to explore and work at the intersection of innovation, cutting-edge technology and creativity to make human lives better. Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Intelligence are some of my favourite topics in Data Science. During the term, I selected variety of classes and assignments that have really aided my learning. Unsatisfied, I keep on exploring the field more by studying recent innovations thoroughly.
